Thanks everyone....We were sitting together that morning when a small five point stepped out. Then this one stepped out right behind and he shot him with my wifes 22-250. My wife and kids have taken quite a few deer with this gun and no deer have ever run off yet with this gun...

Tim was composed before the shot and got excited afterwards...I was very happy for him...he is my right hand man and he is always helping me with anything I do. Especially if it is about hunting or fishing...

We did our homework and went to the gun range and rehearsed the what ifs before we went hunting... Grin Smiley

Pigrig,

this is a virginia white tailed deer. we call them white tailed deer. Depending on what part of the US is how big the can be...even in Texas they vary in body size as well as the antlers size.

Chip off the "Old Block" That's Awsome, boy is bringing home the meat. When my son shot his first one he turned around and asked me "Dad, why are you shaking" LOL, I was happier than him. That's a good buck and congradulations.

Bray,

my brother hunts by the dam and there are some good ones there. I stay at breckenridge park during deer season (off and on) and every year we had 2-3 big bucks roaming the park but haven't seen them this year...A park ranger said one big one got ran over but can not account for the others...

We hunt right behind the old Jackson county fair grounds...

Yea Rick...I was excited for my grandson...especially because he likes hanging out with me and he always helps so I wanted to do something special for him...

Don't know if you know Jerry Spearow but he made the european mount for us out of the deer. Tim will get it for christmas...will be a nice surprise...
