For the last couple months, it seems that our dogs cannot get a hog stopped anymore. Before this they were producing hogs for us on a regular basis. Just about everytime they get put on the hood, they end up getting bayed for a very short time and its broke before you can even get the bulldog out of the truck. After the initial break, they hardly ever get shutdown again. I don't know if it is the dogs or just a bad run of luck. Don't know how they could stop pigs before and all the sudden not be able to anymore. Havn't been doing this long, so any input or advice is appreciated.

Keep hunting them man we have had the same kinda luck until lately. We probably went 2 months in the same kinda situation we would strike them wuick and before you could get close they would break. People say im nutts but i got the hunts saved on my gps we had 3 hunts in a row that we struck in 10 min and once they broke 6 hrs later still never got them stopped. I mean the dogs averaged 20-30 miles a trip on the gps. Then finally i guess our dogs got tired of running and just started shutting them down again it will change for you. Only other option buy rough dogs LOL.

It could be the weather. That plays a vital role in the way the hogs act here. If it's hot, they ain't runnin far. If the moon was out and they was chasin hot sows or feedin till the am. We will bay em in the beds. First cold snap you better have something that will shut em down or you're in for a good chase.

Hey!!!! Sounds like ohio pigs. One of ya mentioned it being cold, maybe that's why my pigs run so well. Its been real warm here lately probly 50 during the day. Gets down to 30 or so at night. Usually were in teens or single digits.

it is possible that the dogs have gotten more confidence over time and are now applying too much pressure causing the hog to break...or...the hogs are just getting smarter...
try striking, baying, with half the dogs to see if they hold the bay...

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...
