Anyone ever eat one of those nasty things, I got 2 world class dillar dogs so I thought I might as well start eating'em and stop buying food at the store. what's the best way to cook a dillar, I know some of you Texas boys have had to have tried it.

BBQ or fried...meat is tender about the texture of a chicken thigh. we were always told to shoot them in the head and to not bust up the intestines when gutting or removing the shell. The reason is that they eat poisonous insects etc... haven't eaten one in years on account of the leprosy thing...

I ate one just one time. I was in the army, we were in Florida, killed it on Eglin. We gutted him, shelled him, put salt, pepper, powdered ketchup ( from MRE) and tobasco sauce on it and roasted it on a spickett ( M16 cleaning rod). Tasted good to me. Texture of chicken, pretty much tasted the same too I guess.

arkansan way of toastin a dillo. always head shot, dont wanna stress them out, keeps meat tender. leave shell on, pull all guts and butthole out, i aint too fond on the tail i snap that off too. singe all the hair off the skin, turn him upside down over an open pit of hickory. hickory penetrates the meat and takes that love juice smell out. stuff him full of onions bell peppers butter and some white and yellow pepper. cook till he boils his stuffings. some of the best eatin. sip jim beam after every bite, kills the after taste
