I got a young ab 9 months old that I let him catch on small pigs 50 pounds or smaller but he runs around the pen when we have them baying I'm working on handle and everything else    and I was told 10-12 months I'm going to wait. Why take the chance of messing one up when you can wait two more months when you might get 2 more years or more by waiting just my .02 worth.

I start them before they drop their puppy teeth. Try to let them pull them out on a pig, then off till 8 1/2 - 9 1/2 mo depending on the dog. If you play with them with a tug toy or anything like that, you will be able to tell when they are not teething anymore.
