The real fast version ta get ya started.

Dogo: Catch

The rest: Bay. Depending on grit.

Show them youngsters a smaller hog and see first if they will bay before ya go anyfurther. If no luck after multiple attempts check out the culling posts on here for the correct method of fixing that problem.  Wink
That should at least get ya started with em. Find out what ya got before you waste alot of time and money.
No matter what breed or name attached to the breed..dont make excuses for em...just cull and try again if they dont cut mustard for ya.

The catch dog boys can prob get ya started on your Dogo.

Good luck bud. Welcome to doggin!

When your baydogs catch it is when its time to go to a bigger hog.
When they bay unconditionaly pull them out of the baypen and move on to drags and mock hunts.
If you have someone with dogs already hunting they are already old enough to drop in the woods and get after it.
Expect your foxhound to be full open mouthed prob a lil colder nosed on track than your cat and bmc. But the other two are liable to start givin mouth also being around him so hope that dont bother you.
Dont hunt them with somebody elses chit eaters. Try and find some decent older dogs or you are likely to get clones.
Pay attention to them youngsters trashing and correct it or pay the consequences later.
Try and maximize your pups hog exposure in the woods at first. Bait or scout to put em in fresh hog sign.

Some people have different opinions but I dont pet or reward mine unless they sure nuff get it done. They are hunting dogs so hopefully they will be hunting for themselves not for your affection.

good post...but like YBM says...put the pups in hog sign because you want to get them going in the woods on hog before you correct them on trash running...I would at least get them on hog a few times and praise them for it before I will light them up for trashing...

Scenario; first time in the woods and no hog sign and Snoopy is getting bored...but then Snoopy hits a smokin hot deer track and you hit Snoopy with shock therapy because you know it is a deer...If your lucky Snoopy will associate the pain in the neck with the deer hurting him...and he will think twice before running deer. But what if Snoopy decides that going off in the woods without daddy is really bad because it hurts quite a bit when he goes out there???and he knows it doesn't hurt when he stays close...and then you are scratching your head wondering why Snoopy don't range out. Shocked Huh? Undecided Cry
