I am 15 and new to hunting with dogs. What age should you retire the dog?
I have an 1 old airidele that was suppose to be start and turned out she won't do nothing at all but stay under your feet we have showed her some pigs and take her to every hunt we take the pack on how can I start her she never barks and stays behind you wen one is around. Thank for looking

I think u should retire them when they loose the want I knew a Guy that hunted a 9 y dog with no teeth she loved its kinda preferance I think.and as far as not hunting at all it may not be cut out for  it if it where me I would just keep taking it in the woods and work it in bay pen with other good dogs it will either pick up and hunt or it wont Grin

I don't think she has what it takes to be a hog dog from what you have said...a hog dog can be ten years old but it depends on the dog, the dog will tell you by how it does... so you must be observant and decide when it is time...

At what age should you stop hunting? I am not trying to be smart but if a dog wants to hunt let them. I would rather die hunting than in a hospital bed.

You can't make a dog hunt. If the dog don't want to hunt at all then you have a pet and I find pet homes for them.
