There is something that I have been thinking about for a while....

Sometimes when we get new members on here, they will ask a hog hunting question and someone will tell them to research it because most hog hunting issues have been previously discussed on here. But I am thinking that there have been a LOT of new members since those discussions and I would like to read new input and thoughts from new people.

So maybe instead of directing everyone to the search engine on here (which is a great tool by the way), we could re-discuss some of the old issues.  Smiley

I mean the membership has like doubled since some of those old discussions.

Just me thinking again.  Undecided

I have read stuff on here that I am unable to relocate with the search engine.  I have to go my profile, and click on last post by this member and keep on scrollin'
'til she comes home.  and if i did not post in the thread i have to try and remember someone who did.  it is messed up because i know for sure that the word im searchin for is in the thread, but post from four years ago will come up, but not the one i'm lookin for.

Mike has never banned anyone unless they get belligerent and try to call people out on a public forum. Good debate has always been welcome on here as long as people can keep their temper in check and not throw a two year old fit.  Grin No one can learn anything or share ideas if people or too busy calling names and starting fights.

I was just thinking the same thing like a week ago, somebody asked for some advice on a issue and they got forwarded to the search method. If that's the case there would never be any new post in General Discussion Because I'm sure just about everything been discussed once r twice before. I for one never really got to hunt with any old timers and really have received alot of knowledge thru the years from this site & I'm always willing to learn something new & hear new methods & views on things.... jmo

there are a few other decent sites I check now and then...but ETHD is by far the best and my favorite...I like how Mike and his moderators patrol and run it...

But I have quit a few other sites on account of all the bashing and argueing... Evil Smiley

the whole "look it up in the search feature is a crock of poo" the search engine dose not always show what a person is looking for. the topic may have been gone over multiple times, but as dianna said, there are new members daily. some are young men and women and some are a little on the older side, but either way, why send them to a search engine, when if the speaches from numerous other topics say, that we must teach the new generation about this sport? i guess if the children ask the same questions from parents, i guess the new answer is use the search engine. if you want to teach the new generation, then teach them, dont blow their questions off and say use the search engine just to save a few mins helping some1 out.

Charles...you do make a good point in that the new guys on here may need a better answer than usual "Use the SEARCH button"...but, sometimes we exhaust the thread and then we move on...then someone else asks the same question and we discuss it again...then sometimes again...

and then we see the same question again and no one responds for a while and then someone will be kind enough to answer or will say hit the search button...but others are kind enough to do the search and then post the link...

Well, really I am speaking from my personal feelings on this and I believe I am speaking for quite a few others...I do not mean to be rude because that normally is not my nature...I try to treat others with the same respect I expect to get...

I do want to make all the new members feel welcome...and I also like all the fresh and new ideas they bring...
