My cat X pit pups hit the ground last night. She had 12 and she already layed on 1 and killed it so I am down to 11 now. I have never had a litter before so I will be asking lots of questions. Like when do I start shots, when to put them on dry food and do I just take em away from mom cold turkey or slowly get them off her lol I truly have no idea what I am doing, but I figured there was only one way to learn. Every dogman had to learn at some point.

I start worming with nemex II at 2 weeks old. Just read the bottle and go by their directions. I start shot's at 5 weeks, 7 way only. Transport them home in a cooler. Buy cold, transport cold, store cold in the fridge, and give 4 total 2 weeks apart. If your not comfortable take them to a VET to have the shot's done..Don't take any chances. The wormer is a no brainer if you go by the directions and will save you trouble as with Sulmet. At about 3 weeks i start giving them food with water so it is very soft and sometimes mix can food also, as they get stronger and more teeth just use less water and soft food. Also a trick that can save you a bunch is using Sulmet in their drinking water when they start drinking. Usually when they are eating solid food. Puppies have to use a bowl that they can reach and with that they step into the water with poopy feet. They get coccidia that way and the Sulmet with help. They sell the liquid at most feed stores and it will say for chickens. I usually use about 2 tablespoons in a bowl and i change the water 2 times a day. bye 6 weeks they should be able to be off mom. lots bleech handy if they are raised in a pen, and make sure mom eats and drinks alot. I usually worm Mom a little before she has them and the day or 2 after with strongid. I go over board some but i had a bout with parvo 18 years ago and with this and advice from my Vet on the shots i have NEVER had a dog get anything except worms since. I don't let people touch my pup's until they have had their first shot and i make them sanitize their hands before they touch them. I also have a spray bottle of Bleech at my pen and spray my feet before i enter. Done this for a long time and had many, many puppies. Some people do the same i know and some don't. Any worries, Go to your Vet. I do not believe in nursing a pup but i do everything i can to help mom take care of them. I do not want weak puppies that grow up and make weak dog's. If it is ment to be they will get a good start this way but you will have casualties. Breeding is not for everyone. This is just what works for me and i am sure you will get alot of good advice. Good luck with the pup's.
