Well, its official. Gov. Fallin signed the bill today to allow open carry of sidearms as long as you have your concealed permit beginning Nov 1st.  While I dont step foot out of my house without a gun, and I think the new law is a great step for gun rights, I still have no plans to openly carry. I do like it for the fact that I can now not be so worried about if my gun is accidentaly exposed.

Though I did tell my wife on Nov 1, I wanna go out with the 1911 on one hip, the super blackhawk on the other hip, both of my Glocks in a dual shoulder holster setup, and the Kel-tec on my ankle! That would be fun to do at least once!!

So now in my great backwards ass state, we can openly carry a gun, but we still can't get good coldbeer at a grocery store. Gotta get it warm from the liquor store. I never thought the open carry would pass, so maybe there is hope for the beer! haha

Warm beer?  Well that's just un-civilized.

We can get cold beer here in OK, but its the crappy 3.2% stuff. If we want 6%, gotta buy it at the liquor store and it aint cold. They have tried making 6pt beer and also wine legal to sell cold, like in grocery stores and convenient stores several times, but it always gets shot down.

Mod, I think that your new open carry law is great. Like you I always worry that my concealed gun will show and spook someone! I have never understood why so many people have to be afraid of someone that has a gun on their hip ? I personally am not afraid of the gun that I can openly see is there! In Ohio open carry has always been legal, although its legal, you can't get away with it ! You will get arrested for insighting a panic or something like that. A few small town sheriff's departments won't blink an eye at it, but for the most part you can plan on being arrested! Longstory short, it comes down to a public perception issue. Which shows how far off base the general public has become with its thinking! When I see a gun on a hip, I see a person that can take care of his or her self! Feed themselves, protect themselves. It is a tool like any other! Congrats to the Okies !!

mod93, after the open carry law goes in effect I want to see a pic of you with those pistols strapped to your side, with boots and spurs on going in a liquor store to buy some hot beer.  Grin

Congrats. A couple years ago we traveled to Utah. I open carried there, and did not receive the first look. Everyone was cool. I didn't get mugged while I was there either.  Grin
