We take 2-3 99.9% of the time. You never know when you'll have split bays...and it does a good job of keeping the bulldogs off Injured Reserve.

i used to only run 1, and never got to keep the good ones very long, even with vest, collars etc.. ive been running the same two for three years now and it has really cut down on injuries to other dogs, and they have lived for alot longer than the ones i used to run.

You never know when you might run into "Big Nasty" Just because you have 2 catchdogs with you, doesn't mean you have to send both to a bay. That being said, just because you have 3 catchdogs with you, doesn't mean you have to send all 3 to the bay. When we had the infamous MEATHEAD, Bro and & caught a barr hog well over 300 pounds. Meathead caught the big sucker by himself and was in complete control of it. One superior catchdog can definitely do the job, but I always feel more comfortable with 2 or 3 or heck even 4.

It's kinda like a .22..... A .22 can kill ya but a .454 Casull will kill you and knock you flat on your Arse and turn you inside out . I like the idea of 3-4 on the truck in case you run into a bad one or one gets a mild cut that's not life threatening, you can put him up and still keep hunting. Also having two pairs as hot as it gets down here you can alternate and have fresh CD each bay, gives the hogs no chance

we run two running catch dogs at a time, and if we have split bays we go to the one who is caught and kick off the catch dogs. But all of our dogs catch once one dog catches; also we have to dogs that catch on hind end to take the power away from the hog so this helps from getting dogs hurt.

Infamous huh...You better hope Mandi doesn't see you referring to Meathead as infamous. As far as she is concerned he hung the moon

2 or more is the way i will do it from now on. The bigger the better. Off some places I hunt we have caught a 365,325,300,280 and a 250lb boar. That was in three hunts(2mths time). 2 catch dogs died, one got cut down. The last hunt we had three. Two being 100lb mastif crosses. 250lbs of catchdogs on a 325lb hog works! I would like the room at the house to kennel three catchdogs..............I have one plus a pup right now. Running two is nice but having a third would be great when you need it.

Its always good to be safe than sorry, what we do can never be planned, even the best can be shut down at the blink of an eye. Always good to have an extra on standby for the just in case!

the two we've been using lately.. The best catch dog I've ever seen, RIP's (Daniel) Jasmine, tons of energy, never tires out, except apparently when I took this picture Buddy, showing how its done on the "monsters" Hog's don't hurt these 2, or any of our other dogs

We normally take 1 catch dog because our hunting dogs will catch as soon as the bulldog catches if not before.

i like 2 i think it keeps the hogs mind off of just tearing up the one catchdog when you have 2 they work against each other and i think the hog loses power cause he has a dog on each ear it is harder to swing his head but like they said there are some hogs (big nasty) you can bring the whole posse and it still may not work just my opinion

We almost always use 2. Sometimes take 3 (2 on the ground; 1 resting at truck).
