Caddo co. hog dog

I have a dc 20 tracking collar. Im needing to put it on my catch dog somehow without it hanging on every fence he crosses. Its really rough country around here where we hunt. I was wondering if anyone has found a way that the dog wont for the most part get it hung up. I cant really put it on his neck because of the cut collar and vest. Any help would be appreciated

i put mine on a collar and brought a antenna from ebay witch you can put them the same as the dc30
|

yeah ive done that but somehow it doesnt work on him. The vest goes way up on the collar and as thick as those two together plus another collar he cant even move his head lol

we run collars (when we have extra ones) under the first two straps of the vest on their body, looks goofy, but seems to work. I think it's a good idea if you have em to keep collars on catch dogs, they seem to get lost just as much as baydogs and are in greater danger because of obvious reason of getting hurt.

You may already be aware of this, but if you lose a catch dog, see if you can get your hands on a cur dog, tie them to a tree then walk away. More than likely the cur dog will begin barking, and the catch dog will come to them. At least that has worked the couple of times we have had a catch dog lost without a collar on. Mist times we run a collar on them, but there have been a few times we were short a collar and the catch dog went without one. I just use a long collar and put it over the cut collar. Not sure how to make your DC20 work on one though. |

I run my an ugly dog kevlar on my dog and put my dc20 on the third strap back. I leave the strap a little loose so that the collar can lay back if it hits something. It works fine. I hardly ever break antennas and it keeps it dry for the most part.

i always put a tracking collar on my catch dogs.
i run it on the second strap on the vest (about the center of their back)it hangs good , i run my catch dogs loose to follow me horse back so the extra weight of the collar makes the vest run side ways just a little sometimes but hasent been a problem.
this also keeps your tracking collar from getting busted up by a hog. ive had a few around the neck get busted.

I appreciate it guys... Ill hafta do that. And makin the dog bark while tied to a tree is a really good idea.. I would have never thought of that. But im always afraid of him catchin his own and it be a gruntter and not a squeeler and us not hearing him

I am new and learning so bear with me. Why don't you run the tracking colar on the dogs neck like the bay dogs? I have noticed several pictures like you were discussing with the tracking collar hooked on the dog's cut vest.
