I've got a "bone" to pick with Ol Carlos right now.
I've been hunting at night for long as I have been hunting and just finally got into day huntin. Even though I never cut a catch dog Loose from real far out, I have to admit that I never really witnessed the play by play of the catch itself, just turn loose, hear the hit, go in, flip hog, choke carlos out and move on to next hog. Since ive day time hunting, I've been waiting till we get on top of the hog, cuttin him loose, seeing him get slung, then seeing him catch. And the getting slung deal has been making me IRATE! now he has always decomposed himself and got a hold but still, it has moved him to the cull waiting list.
After a total miss yesterday and taking off like a special boy chasing butterfly's, I was done with him.
I slept on it and watched the video of the first catch of the day a few times and had a thought, he got into a kennel fight with my old catch dog a while back ad had some real damage done to his lips and one tooth, I let it heel since he could lick it and thought nothin of it. After thinking over his recent string of crappy catches, I walked outside and pulled his mouth open, sure as shoot, he winced at me even grabbing his bottom jaw. I saw a rotting tooth in the back of his jaw and lots of healthy but strange looking tissue and noticed that his cheeks had healed in to his teeth basically when he catches he's biting down on the inside if his mouth and may possibly have a boneinfection at the bad tooth.
Where do I go from here? My wife and I like him and will take him to the vet since I have no canine dentistry experience, but IN ALL REALITY, is there any coming back from this type of deal?
I'm ready either way, obviously I'm rooting for his recovery and continued career, but I'm a realistic guy, so y'all experienced folks let me have it straight. What y'all thinking? You can pm if you need to.

t-bob no way of knowing the out come of that one till looked at by a proffesional . but is it actually the cheek healed funny or maybe a swelling due to the tooth making it look that way . if it is the jaw i'm sure they could pull the tooth and trim the scar tissue back so it would heal normal .

sounds like an abscessed tooth as well. The vet will give antibiotics to clear the infection and then after about a week he will work on the dog...that is what I think will happen...

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...
