I hunt hogs do to the fact the mess up all my pastures and they get into my feed bunks and waste everything possible. I also have had cattle hurt from hogs rutting in the fields and also watched them kill and eat baby calves. I guess the main reason is I get a kick out of them I would rather hunt hogs than kill 180 class white tails, but the main reason is the people and friends I meet that are all caught up in this sport like I am I don't think you could meet a better bunch of people that hunt hogs with dogs.

1.)  I hunt with dogs because I love to watch the dogs work, love to see the battle, and love to see the dog victorious.  Kinda like a Gladiator match.....MAY THE BEST BEAST WIN!

2.)  I'm also a RIFLE nut and have a passion for tactical shooting...no practice is better than shooting hogs.

3.)  I am a trophy hunter plain and simple.  Shoulder mounts, skull mounts, or just photos to add to my collection are an addiction....makin' memories!

4.)  Marinated wild hog backstraps over an open fire....cut 'em with a fork....OH YEAH!!!!!!

Dogs, woods, adrenaline, and mostly good people.  Just makes more sense than any other hunting to me.

I really enjoy watching good dogs work. Producing good dogs and because I am such an animal lover I try to do my part in lowering the blood pressure in our porcine friends.

I like to hog hunt with dogs because it is an adrenaline rush and there is nothing like hearing the dogs you trained and cussed doing what they are sapose to do. I have always liked training dogs to hunt weather it is hogs coon or just about any kind of animal but none of it compares to hogs.

Its all about the dogs. I like raising my own dogs, starting them and seeing how good they can get. I hunt 1 or 2 dogs out at a time so I can tell what a dog is capable of.
Also I like when my buddies dog comes back and mine is bayed somewhere by itself.....LOL
I would just as soon catch the hog and release it (cut if its a boar) but some of the places we hunt require us to kill the hogs.
I think the hogs get a bad rap. They have been here in Fla for over 400 years and cause far less damage to the environment than people do.
I managed ranches for 13 years, had 500 cow/calf pairs and never had a problem with hogs bothering livestock. Yes they rooted the pastures some, but they have been doing that for hundreds of years and haven't permanently hurt anything. Rain, cows walking over the rooting, etc will eventually flatten it back out. Its no fun to drive over with a  tractor at times, but hey, they were here first!!

As you read this you can see hogs are hunted for alot of different reasons and most all will amitt there is a adreniline rush too it.Mine is like most others being in the woods with your dogs watching them work, then to me its the rush catching and tieing the hog and it doesn't always have to be a trophy. Even when I want to kill a hog I catch it first.  I've done this for years and some times I fill like I have to go, for ever the reason may be.It gets in your blood, its my sport of choice, I love it, thats what I look foward too.

some one needs to hold a big hog dog super bowl. You see the dock dogs and sporting dog challenges on television. What if we went to a big place like the Alamodome or Astrodome put a dirit floor in and make a bay pen and like the terian we run in and have a real life contest as if we were in the woods. This could help people understand what we do and create a better image for us hog doggers. This was an idea sounds like it could be a exciting thing to do.

There are so many reasons why..... but a few stick out, there is no greater feeling than hearin your dogs bayed up or even better yet seein them work... and its all about the adrenalin rush..bein in the woods, away from the everyday, and the commrodary of other doggers is yet another. I could go on but I think I covered the basics for myself.

i dont think it could be explained any better than that.........one of the proudest moments of my life was the first time me and my buddy went hunting and he left his dogs at home.......I had amos and joker (rest in peace). When i heard amos open up and joker hit right behind him i had a smile from ear to ear.........it still to this day makes me grin. there is no drug on this earth that can give you a high like that!

living in the country here in oklahoma my whole life i have hunted and killed every kind of game we have.
when was a kid i always had a hound with me every time i went to the woods ,squirrels in the day coon at night.
in the summer when i would leave out of a morning i would have my fishing pole and a single shot 22 and my dog was ready and waitng a the door. my parents would have to honk the horn on the truck to get me back to the house for supper.

after a few years i would just as soon watch a deer walk as shoot it, not shure what happend i just lost interest.

i went to college took a break from hunting.

after college i had been gathering cows with dogs for a few years and was havin fun.

then i discoverd we had hogs in oklahoma  Grin  so i loaded my horse and my cow dogs and went and caught my 1 st hog , and man i was hooked it was like someone had set a fire in me all i wanted to think about was catching my next hog.

hog hunting fit me like a glove i love to train horses and dogs as well. so it was on.

i guess what i like the most is raising a set of pups and training them into good dogs.( hopefuly)

well that would have to be second the best is grabin a big ole hind leg you cant hardle reach your hand around, now thats why i hunt.

Training animals is what it's all about for me, learning from them and helping them reach their full potential.  I also love the idea of breeding better dogs.... evolution in motion.
