Ok I know this isn't a gun forum and ive tried googling it but anyway my older flintlock muzzeloader pistols hammer most of the time will not fully drop down it goes to halfcock.  Sometimes itwill fullydrop and everything. Ik the flint part is all good. But I need some help thanks!!

 is there a spring in there that forces the hammer down towards the strike plate? could have a loose or broke spring or its gummed up from yrs of oil and dirt, if there is a spring in it.

yeah most likrly needs a good cleaning . or possibly some new parts . they need to be dissasembled occaisionaly and cleaned . i haven't had much to do with the flints . but the caps worl about the same ass far as the working order of them . what brand is it ?
