the good ones that are built right will out hunt, out strike and go miles if needed to catch a hog...if they don't strike a track close they will keep hunting out until they locate one...but if you are moving with the 4 wheeler they will hunt with you as long as you don't stop...they have a medium nose to cold nose so they can take a decent track (perfect nose IMO), but they prefer hotter tracks...and they are winding specialists...they can wind one way out there...

the bad things about some of these dogs is that they can be trashy at first because they want to catch game so if they don't strike a pig quick they will run a deer. They will run a long time so they probably will get you to trespass pretty quick...another negative for some folks is that they will trail bark some and some folks think that that is evil...    Huh? I've hunted behind several mtn curs. Excellent hog dogs!!
Great nose, tons of hunt ,lots of bottom and gritty as heck. But as Ruben said
,they tend to get mouthy and will often trash. They love to tree and all of em I've hunted behind
would try and catch any varmint they seen. Even seen one that would catch squirrels every time we took him
out. They are very fast and agile dogs.

I have a 1/2 mountain cur, 1/4 plott, 1/4 cat female that is 16 months old that I just put on the dog trade because she barks on track and likes to wake up the neighbors. I have never seen her get tired but everything said here is true.
