I finally got Machito(6 month pup) to do some stage huntin. We had 3 fifty pounders, I could only allow him to get on the first 2........His first time to see a hog was with Peppa, she went right to em, he ran to her barkin, it worked out as planned-nice and quick bay!.   They bayed for 10 min, she got to snippin him on his rear-Machito did as he saw, he wanted to get really rough, but he was holdin back and bayin, I was happy. Went as planned.
Then, an hour later, we staged another one(in the creek) with Flea and Scar(both 1 yr or less). Knowing scar was rough, he showed Machito how to dive in, literally! The lil 50 pounder POUNDED Machito on the creek bed drop off, Machito got smothered and was completly under water for a few secs....he was catchin on his throat, the hog was sittin on him. I had to go in and help em b cuz I think he was gonna get hurt more than I figured would be possible. That did it for the day. He would have handled the third stage hunt, but I didn't want to push it on the lil guy. I'd say Machito took a good 20 hits, plus he got bit on the ear, I think he's gonna make a nice strike mutt!! Nobody would pay $50 for him a while back, I'm glad now I know he's got a nose plus grit! He's a keeper!

Lil Machito definitely has some grit to him.  I was very surprised to see a pup that young work a hog like that.   I figure if you keep putting time into him he won't disappoint you.  He'll be out there striking hogs in no time.
