May just need a man to talk to him. He thinks women should be seen, not heard. I would agree with mr. whitten, e collar just to get his attention when u call him

Heck when I call one dog by name they all come running... I have five 7 month old pups and they don't have names yet...it's not that important to me...not until they have proven themselves then they will get a name...

Reuben....you know it's funny....my dogs kind of work off of eye contact quite a bit too, lol..... I can yell "hey" and they all look but the one I'm looking at is the one that will come most of the time.....unless they think there in trouble....then they just lay down, lol

trapperchick...this is how I teach my dogs which is very little...I do the minimum that I believe they need...my dogs are kept in pens in my back yard...I turn them out and let them run...I only call them to come play or to come get a left over piece of chicken etc...as they learn to come at a later time it is just to pet them up good...once they come to me regularly I might call them to give medicine but I pet them up really good...try to keep it positive... I try not to ever call the pups if they are focused on something else because they/he won't come, especially if the pup is doing something that is fun for him...call him when he is likely to come... if you call him when he is likely not to come will only teach him that ignoring you works...I give commands that I can enforce or I won't give it...the red ryder is the long arm in my back yard... if I give the command to stop something and want him/them to come I have the red ryder with me that can reach out and touch em if needed and they will come quickly... hope this helps...

Good advice. Trapperchick I would also be hesitant on calling him to you constantly. I did that before and when you get in the woods and hunt em I they hear your voice they come running back and don't hunt. Let him explore he ll come around he's just a pup. The other best thing is feed him with the bowl between your legs and talk to him and pet on him. That's what I had to do with a dog I got recently he wouldn't come for chit the first time I took him out. Then I started showing him attention at the house and giving him some table food to show him he's a good dog. Etc etc Etc, now give one good ya in the woods and he's headed back to me...... Normally... Lol

Try a loud whistle and when he comes say his name then treat. I call my dog by whistling with my fingers, it works for me.
