New Year's Day, it was the second time my old man has come to hunt with me, the first time was a dry run a couple years ago. Got him on a good one this second go. Hunted a place for a while, that we been leavin alone most of deer season. Dogs hunted their butts off and didnt get a bark. Loaded up and hit another place. Dogs struck before we had everything out of the truck. He ran about 25 yards and bayed up. Got him out of the thicket and got him tied. Lacy rolled out and finally shut down a little sow just before dark, got her caught and tied and took her out to feed out in the pen (our buyers have been shut down). This is one of the Barr hogs we have cut this year. This group has been know for runners, but I was told by a Barr hunter to "cut the wheels out of them" and it worked! We cut this guy back in August, and Brian didnt believe it was the same hog till he saw the notch we put in him. we had to send the cd's from 400+ to shut this guy down the first time and were lucky that he tried to make it across a field. He has gained about 40-50 lbs since we cut him, but he still has a ways to go lol. He should be nice here in a few years. We were both happy to catch our first Barr that we worked. Funny thing is, it was also my buddies first hog to catch who was also on this hunt. He hasn't caught but maybe 30 hogs, so he recognized him before we even had the cd off. It was a great first hog for my dad and he sure enjoyed watching the dogs do their thing.

That's a good deal that your father went on a hunt with you. Im sure thats something meaningful to yall both. My Dad has never gone on a hunt with me. The only time my Dad has helped me do anything was a couple months ago. We own a high fence ranch in Zavalla county and he helped me pull some hogs out of a trap. The hog in this pic was barred, ear tagged, and released. Turns out I'm a Barr man too! Maybe one day I can get a pic like yours with my Dad and a big Barr too! This is my dad.
