I posted on here about a 1911 a while back and decided to do my kennels first. Well I worked a trade out on an Ovation guitar I had sitting in the closet for about 5 years and got this lil beauty

1976 smith and Wesson model 66 357 mag. It has the pinned barrel and recessed cylinder which I am told adds a small amount to the value, but the value isn't what drove me to get it. I'm pretty sure this lil thing is alot more accurate than me. Any certain ammo you suggest?

Very nice pistol Cody, I did a lot of research on which 357 round was best for me. I hunted alligators for 30 years and was always looking for better stopping power. I came across an article by Chuck Hawks where he showed his findings on what he considered the most effective round for stopping  power on the market regardless of caliber.  I shot many large gators with this round through the years and it was good night Irene on all of them. No moving, no nerves twitching, no tail moving, just good night Irene. I only shot a few hogs with this round but outcome was the same. Here is an exert from the Chuck Hawks article I saved years ago. I use the Federal C357B.

The most effective handgun round on the market, regardless of caliber, is the Federal .357 Magnum 125 grain jacketed hollowpoint (C357B). This load has more stopping power than any other handgun cartridge and this includes more powerful rounds like the .41 and .44 Magnums. I advise all experienced revolver men to carry the legendary Federal C357B or the equally good Remington full-power 125 grain semi-jacketed hollowpoint (R357M1) in a .357 revolver.

Thanks everyone.

Jimco- did he go into depth in the article? Wondering what all he compared it to and how it matches up to the competition. Post the link to the article if you can. Thanks buddy.

I can't find the original Chuck Hawks article I originally found but here is another that basically shows the same but shows other calibers as well.

Cody, this is another factory loaded round that you might consider for hog hunting. It is super penetrating so I would be careful shooting at
a bay with dogs for fear of the bullet exiting. The round is designed for big game.

10-4 thanks, I am gonna read up on them soon. Kinda been a lil busy. Set the posts for the kennels today since we got dry weather. Occasionally the dogs will bust a small sounder and a couple track stars (75-150lbs) slip past us while the dogs were running a different one. That's what this pistol is for... Those that show their face after slipping the dogs
