Well I got a new dog named Apache from Brian (txhogsanddogs) and wanted to make a run this afternoon.. I called two of my buddy's and made plans to go out to a couple places after school. We get to the place amd let out Apache, my cat gyp, and my buddy's bmc and it don't take Apache 2 minutes and he is bayed up on a sounder. All dogs get there to help and as soon as I let the catch dog go the bay breaks! We sit for a while and tried to call up my catch dog but we can't find him anywheres and then Apache starts baying and we look at the Garmin and he is at 1100 and bayed solid.. We start walking to him trying to think of a plan cuz we don't have a catch dog at the moment and then I hear brush behind us and here comes my cd and as soon as I reach to grab him about 5 little piglets run out and of course he goes and snags one up off the ground.. I grab him and we start back to the bay.. By this time all the dogs are hammering down and I let the cd go at about 75 yrds.. We here pigs running and then squealing! We get there and it's only a 100 pounder so we keep on going.. We head back down the creek towards the truck and there's a big thicket ahead of us across a open field about 1300 yrds away.. I was trying to call up all the dogs and as soon as I get them I hear Apache all the way over there and he was bayed up at 1250 on a pack of hogs right in the middle off the thicket. We get to the woods and lets the cd go and we are trying to find a way in the woods when the cd hits! We hear a loud grunt and then it sounded like a dog got hit. I hopped the fence and took off in there with my arms over my face! I stopped and listened for a min and then heard squealing so I get in there and they have another 100 pounder stretched out! It sounded like my catch dog tried to catch a bigger hog at first but got hit or thrown and that hog took off! Either way it was a fun hunt and glad I got to get out and hunt with some good friends!
