Well I went simple but its functional...just a couple small drips but holds water well...only lost about 1/2" in 24 hours.

hey Kevin...you probably will need to nail a couple more boards across the top otherwise the pigs will lay in the trough and push some of the water out as well as muddy up the trough...as a kid we built the troughs smaller and the larger ones had boards across it to keep the hogs out...

Had to clean it out...3" of hog crap and mud, lol.
Got more boards across...should be good now.

It definitely holds water....not bad.
