I have a few bmc puppies my intention was to pick a male but one of my reverse females seems to stand out .shes not the biggest of the pups but roughs all them up. The male I thought I wanted is still on my list due to the fact he aways seem like he's looking for something he is always away from the rest ofvthe pups. Whst would u pick.

keep both and then decide when they are proving themselves...if I could only keep one it would be the male that steps out... |

Lol...man its a crapshoot If your trying to find the one with the best nose...You could do the little tests Reuben uses. That was a good idea. The beef liver test  It's said if your trying to reproduce a certain dog...pick the pup that most closely resembles that dog. It's said the runts are good to pick because they've had to fight for everything. It's said the first pup to escape its whelping box will be a good one. Lol....honestly...at that age it's just luck. Of course, the better the breeding the better the odds are of your pup making a dog. |

pick the one that YOU like..
.....that way you'll spend more time and effort on it...otherwise when you keep the pup that (the wife / kids / your barber) wants you to choose you'll always be thinking..."man I wished I kept that little reverse female"......

If it were me personally i would pick the male hands down.
I know they are just puppies BUT which dog do you want to deal with at 2 yrs old?
A male that stays moving and is independant or the growly bitch that goes into heat 2-3 times a year lol......thats based solely off of what I see the pups doing as adults based off of their puppy characteristics with no other way to judge them.......

I've pretty much went to males. No hassles with them accidentally getting bred or being in heat lol |

I like to take my picks from the litter to a strange place they have never been and kick them out and see what they do in a different environment. You can be fooled by watching the pups in a space they feel safe in. The true test is how they explore unfamiliar territory. This is just how i like to do it if i have multiple pups to choose from...

I have a fool proof method. Have me come down and pick a pup and you take the one that is left. It will be a cracker jack for sure.

There is only one sure fire way to pick the best in the litter & that is keep the whole litter.  Like said above if out of a well bred litter, your odds are going to be better. I have always picked the average size of the litter. My buddy has always picked the biggest out of the litter & over the years I can see where his dogs have gotten bigger then mine. I have also kept runts & without fail, they have caught up with the others & made good dogs. I have also picked the sorriest dog out of the litter.lol |

I wouldn't pick the female who toughs the others up. With my luck she would have an attitude problem & keep trying to rough dogs up when she's full grown. I've always picked the biggest out of the litter. Don't know why I just do..
