I  just built a cedar dog house for my best hog dog, and I posted a picture of it on facebook .  Someone said that it would interfer with my dogs ability to trail. I looked it up on line and have found several things but nothing concreat. They say that some dogs are alergic to cedar and will start sneezing right away if they are others say they can get a skin rash from it.  well the boards are dry and have no sap on them and yes they have the cedar smell when i first built them but now not so much with it being out side .  she is a very good trail dog and will take a track around 9 hours old depending on the conditions but i dont want to do something that would hender her ability... so i have taken her out of that pen and put the CD  in there for now until I can find out some more info... So if you guys and gal's know of any thing please let me know .... and thanks in advance....

I put cedar shavings in all the dog barrels for the winter it helps with fleas to, and they still hunt fine.

My ol' turds catch skunks then trail hogs.  LOL   I don't figure the cedar can top that!!!!   Besides, hogdogs don't have to trail just wind, locate, and maul it as soon as they see it.  LOL

Huh? Really? I guess I don't have hogdogs because there ain't no mauling. Now we get a few pigs after a skunk. But the dog may wind or trail. Then they bay. I caught the smallest piglet because my dogs bay and do not maul. Even catch dogs catch. Most pigs I have pulled look like the came out of a trap. A dog that mauls is a cull in my yard.
