We had two family pets that decided hunting pigs was way more fun then hanging out at the house. Bird our red Heeler mix was a shelter rescue, she is currently striking pigs with a loose bay ethic. Creeksus our golden retriever is a rough rough strike and catch dog ( up to 200 pounds). I know they arn't the tipical hog dog but have proven theirselves many times.

one of my first two hog dogs was a big male aussie and he was a straight up rear end dog. a friend had a little female aussie that was non stop bark on a hog but wouldnt ever put a tooth on one. been many years since ive hunted with an aussie.

I started hunting hogs with one full blooded big blue healer and a healer cross . Both dogs were rescues and they started baying the hogs I trapped and had in a pen . Started taking them to the woods and soon had hog dogs that would set down even the biggest boars. All I had to do was walk up and shoot !!! We killed a lot of hogs. Had these dogs from about 1982 till 1990 or so , they were lots of fun !!!
