Stopped by petsmart after work today to get a price on vaccinations etc... Didnt know they had wellness plans for pets. Basic puppy plan 311.40 yearly/25.95 mnthly for eleven months for one dog. How much does it cost on the DIY plan, for vaccinations and upkeep, not including feed?

A visit is 50-60 bucks depending on vet. Then a parvo shot is about 25 bucks.

There are Veternairian supply places like Vet Vax or Jeffers where you can by your own shots & save a ton of money. Also the Tractor Supply places around here have a vet that visits them once a month to give Rabie shots or their other inoculations. It is $12.00 I think for Rabies & maybe $15.00 for the 7 in one. No office charge.

yep learn to do it yourself , I can take care of a whole litter of pups for less than that a year . wellness care is just shot's and worming basically .

We only take a dog to the vet if we just have to. we do all of out shots and worming our self. Its cheaper and you dont have to deal with anyone. Parvo shots from tractor supply are around 8.00 a piece. A lot cheaper than a 50-60 dollar visit plus the 25 dollar shot. I took one to have it tested for giardia and parvo and sure enough i got out of the office with a wallet 108 dollars lighter.

Go buy your shots ure self. But DO NOT buy them from tractor supply or a feed store, Because they leave the shots on the deck sometimes and they thaw and are pointless to get. Always buy from a vet. I get my shots for anywhere from $11-$16 for a shot I have never paid more than 16

x2...all I use is livestock meds and one shot per pup and that is about it...I try to keep my cost to a minimum... |

for a pup two rounds of 7 in 1 (8 bucks at my vet I give it myself).
I usually do rabies around 6 months think that's 35-40 bucks but I cant give it, the vet has too.

i'm feeding 6 dogs right now and ain't none of them ever been to the vet . the vet will sell you a bunch of crap you don't need at a jacked up price !
their dogs for petes sake , if they can't make it the way the good lord intended then i don't need them !!!!!!!!

The dogs r like anything else u don't want it to be for nothing. U feed care for train a dog u want it to produce a return. If u build a race car u build to win even though wrecks and crashing r part of the game.

U can figure over a year for basic vet bills probly $15 per month per dog. It can be handled cheaper and just as effective if done urself in most cases. There are instances where ur dogs may need meds that can only be administered by a vet. My self where I live we have ivomec resistant heart worms. In this case to prevent heart worms we have to use pro heart. Pro heart isn't available to the public and must be administered by a vet.

as a kid we never took a dog to the vet. my mom was a nurse and we took care of things at home. with this site and others their r alot of things we can do that will save tons of time and money

There is a resistance all up the Mississippi River valley. They did studies around Jonesboro AR and said it was horrible at how many were resistant. It is bad enough that if u have been giving heart gaurd to ur dogs and can prove it by receipts for the pills if ur dog test positive the company will pay all vet bills to treat the dog. The last map I saw showed pockets in other areas but the worst was in the valley here.
