Man, I do the pymetherin concentrate thing. Spray every kennel and dog. I think that is why my fleas get a tolerance so quick though. At times, this won't even keep them at bay. We back right up to the swamp along the bayou, an they are pretty rough right now. From what I have read, the most effective way to manage them is fans. I don't have electricity out to my pens, so I just spray and try and do the best I can for them.

A lot of people around here put up Martin gourds for them. I think it's to late in the year now for Martins to make new nest but they say they sure help keep them down. I do not have any martins around my house but I do have a lot of Mosquitos and I'm willing to try anything also so I'll be getting me some gourds next year for them.

If u have kennels u can use purge metered dispensers. It won't stop all of them but it will be better. I had them by my front and back door outside to help keep them from swarming. On windy nights not much help but skeeters aren't bad on windy nights either.

Get on the google and find out about mosquito misting systems then go to the hardware store and buy or order all the stuff you need to home make one. For around 300-500 dollars you'll be set up for years to come, your wife and dogs will be happier

not sure if it will help on dogs, but it worked for me. feed your dogs garlic, when they sweat, the odor seps out of their pours and skeeters can't stand it. east tx was horrible wight hem and i was told by an old timer to eat garlic with every meal and it will keep them away. i did it and after bout a wk, i didn't get bothered as bad with them, and after 2 wks, i didn't have any issues at all. i still eat a lot of garlic, but skeeters aint as bad in central tx, so i don't eat near what i used to.

actually I have been using garlic for myself as a skeeter repellant for years it works . now dogs don't sweat but , I imagine a feller could make him a spray out of garlic for the dogs . I just use the permethrin 10% and spray my dogs pretty regularly for flies and skeeters as well as fleas . I keep a spray bottle out at the dog yard and will hit their ears where the flies bug them about every other day .

I use permethrin 10 as well. Instead of water, I use mineral oil to mix it with. It lasts A LOT longer because it's not water based. Garlic works also, dogs don't have to sweat, from what I understand. It's when the bug bites them, they taste the garlic in their blood and the bugs don't like it so they leave them alone. I give brewers garlic tablets in summer months instead of straight garlic cloves. Ratio of perm 10 & mineral oil is 1:20.

yep that's me . when I'm spraying the kennels I mix it about double 2 ounces to the gallon but for just spraying the dogs it's 1 ounce to the gallon . I too used the mineral oil for awhile , especially when I was spraying the kennels . it wasn't mineral oil but the light 10 wt hydraulic oil for tractors , I would buy it in the big five gallon buckets . but it has gotten so high I just got away from using it here lately . when the flies get really bad [ living around cattle ] I will also mix the permethrin with the udder butter creams and plaster that on the ears it last a long time that way .
