Met up with Logan (LTcaughthog) and Matt Carr and hit my place tonite. Dropped the dogs...Logan's Flacca, Matts Roxi and Bella, Preacher and pup "Pig" for me.

Dogs were roading well when Matt (who's standing in the back of the truck) sounds off about a good boar that crossed in front of us about 150 yards up....bout the same time the dogs put it in another gear but were having a hard time lining him out...it was real dry out there.

Flacca or Roxi one (I can't remember which) were on the track first and rolled out 250 or so into the Sudan. That's where it got tough. I walked the other dogs that direction and Bella, Preacher and "Pig" were hoggy but never really took off till I was on the far side of the field. Preacher opens up with his running bawl and Bella and Roxi were going to him and coming out....going to him and coming out. I think Flacca was working the trail as well but got bogged down at a small drainage.

I'd had enough of Preachers running bawl and knew if he actually came bayed the dogs would go to him...in the mean time I was gonna take them where I THOUGHT the boar was headed. Well sure enough...I see Bella throw her head up and make a hard right hand turn into the brush with Roxi right behind her. Now I wait...2 minutes, 3, 4.....and a bark....then Bella's rapid chop followed by Roxis bark and they are bayed solid.

I'm about 125 yards out and listening....pup "Pig" goes in then comes out....goes in then comes out, lol. I love watching pups learn....it won't be long and the switch will flip and he'll be hammering right along side momma....anyway...I digress. Bella and Roxi are hammering away....bayed solid....every 30-45 seconds they stop and start up again right away....I can just picture the bluff charges. Were 7-8 minutes into the bay now and Bella hasn't tried to catch so I know it's a decent Boar. At about 10 minutes in Flacca shows up and goes into the bay....Logan and Matt are pulling up now with Preacher in tow and he goes in as well as the boys are getting the bulldogs lined up. The dogs are screaming now and it sounds like they are in the river or right close anyway. We close to 40 yards and the boys unsnap. We heard a big splash...but that's it. No squealing. As we get to the bank...Logan confirms the hog is caught and I pass my knife to Matt. It's a done deal.

It was a nice boar and from the drop to the stick it took all of 1 hour. As I'm finishing this story I realize I'm not on MY phone because it's broke....so no tap-a-talk...and I ain't messing with photobucket any more. I'll let Logan or Matt post pics.

On a side note...it was nothing but bay dogs tonight (I don't consider Bella rough) no rcd's or rough ass curs and we had no issues with running. Amazing the difference it makes. Good dogs boys....good dogs.
