Couldn't be happier at the moment. This
is Ben's Texas Ranger, my 16 month old Kemmer, finally getting some puppy out of him and locking down on a bushy tail. I have been working him as much as possible in hopes of having him more than well started by the end of this squirrel season. Today was the first day I was truly impressed with what I saw. Hope this is a good preview for what is going to evolve over the next 5 months and there after.

His pops was the best tree dog I have ever personally hunted behind. Hunter had no quit in him what so ever....this is Hunter after a day in Newton County. 47 total that day if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, some POS sorry excuse for a human being stole hunter about a month or two after this pic was taken. Hunter is on the left.

Thanks Mr. Whitten and good luck to you as well.

Pwilson,

If you ever go, especially with a sure-nuff dog... get ready to have another mouth to feed. lol. It's a bit addicting. I love watching dogs work in any aspect, but it amazes me to watch these squirrel dogs. Think about this for a second... we have all watched a limb rat...they are all over the place. left, right, up, down, 180, back and forth like a nervous crack head. Then to watch these dogs be able to zero in on exactly what tree they are in, it never gets old! I hope one day you can check it out for yourself.

mtn. lion definitely on my list. I just have a feeling it will be habit forming after one trip....or breathtaking, literally like I'm fat and out of shape and this terrain is kicking my hiney! lol

those are some nice looking Kemmers...just think...if a kemmer can sniff out a tree rat high up in a tree...just think how easy it is for them to find a 250 pound stinky boar even in a thick briar patch...that's why I like mt cur in the mix for hog dogs...

thanks Reuben. Out of curiosity, are your mtn. curs silent on track? Never hogdogged with one, just wondering. My brother-in-law has that brindle OMC on the right in the pic and he is silent as he can be until he trees hard when hunting squirrels. Complete opposite on a coon...he opens up on a hot track.

Pwilson, if he's huntin them in Orygun then he's either contracted to the state on problem cats or he's poachin cause it ain't legal to use dogs on cats or bear up here. Gotta go to Idyhoe!
