I am hunting some heavy wooded land near a large lake. There are hogs there but every time i go out we see some fresh sign of them we find new rooted ground always 1000 yards or further away from the lake where they have moved away from there last spot and they never go to water at the lake edge. There are 6 or 7 small creeks running away from the lake and the eventually dry up. all around the lake are small scrub acorn trees with little cover and lots of sand stones.
I can not find these hogs but every other week i am out there i see where i have missed them.I KNOW THIS IS LITTLE TO GO ON BUT ANY ONE GOT ANY IDEAS. I am sick of trying to find these hogs, it's still warm around here wont thery be near water? And any guess as to what to look for to find where they bed down My dogs are all young and i need some one with some better ideas than i have had to get me going in a better way. I am using catahoulas should i take a hound out there, i dont wanna push em away with a open mouth dog

Thanks for any ideas

sounds familiar. me and my friends did the same thing for months when we started.  break down and spend the money on a proven strike dog.  breed don't matter you just need a proven dog.

or, keep going thru younger, cheap dogs until you find a good one.  your dogs may get better, but the self starters aren't exactly a dime a dozen.

them two brindle beauty's are mine dont be trying to clam fame on my plotts. plus there standing on my tool box.....lol .......but really thats my leroy and suey dogs just so everybody knows

try going out and scouting the area the hogs may be traveling a mile r two  to cause the sign u r seeing then going back where they came from . a pup r short range dog will probably not stick with it
