A dog wearing an UglyDog Ranch Cut Clollar with my old phone number has been found, dog is emaciated, and cut pretty bad in front leg. man says dog appears to been gon a long time, very skinny but friendly.
N. Texas area dog needs to be picked up and tended to, please spread the word and let ranch owners know that Hog Hunters do NOt abandon their dogs, or if someone can pick dog up until its owners are located
Man that found dog called from cell phone 817-239-4634

Let me know where it's at. I'm in Wise county, very near the 817 area code. I'll kennel and care for it till its owner shows up.

You know it is nice to see there are so many people on here that go out of their way to help other hunters and their dogs. What gets me is why dont people out there put the brass name plates on their collars? It is kind of a given around here that any dog with a collar from a hunting to to a fu fu house pet most likely has a brass name plate on its collar. Heck a lot of us even put them on our leashes and anything else we can hook one to. Just puzzles me.

Very good point...I think us being dog owners, we need to make sure we make good decisions and take the necessary measures to keep our dogs safe, and not put them in those situations. I was hunting a couple weeks ago and we decided not to put a tracking collar on our lead dog because he usually doesnt stay out long. He struck a hog that my dad says had to have been at least 300 lb, my dad heard a yelp and the hog was gone. Now, we were afraid that willie was hurt somewhere in those woods because we called and called for him and he never came around, weve had him for almost 7 years and it is not like him to not come when we call. If we wouldve had a tracking collar on him it would have saved us the 4 hours we spent looking and worrying for him. We then got a call from a sheriff that had found him by a main highway looking lost, that was over 3 miles from where we were. Apparently Willie did not give up on the hog and went further than usual. We had a brass plate with name and numbers on his cut collar, the relief we felt was overwhelming. I feel its very important to make good decisions for our dogs, we learned our lesson about the tracking collars thats for sure. Im really glad this dog found his home

Yeah I even put big cattle ear tags on all of my collars so they are very visible some of my dogs won't let strangers catch them but somtimes they can see my name and # from a little ways off

Heck a lot of us even put them on our leashes and anything else we can hook one to. Just puzzles me. I think a reasonable way to combat this would be if the people who sold the cut collars, just made it MANDATORY that the brass plate be on there instead of making it an optional $1.50 add-on. Just automatically have it added on to the cost. Not trying to criticize, just think that it would be a smart idea that is not to expensive to implement and would result in less dogs being lost, and also help show that hog dog hunters are responsible dog owners. Oh yeah and I'm glad someone got there dog back, that is always a good story to hear, major thumbs up to krystal for putting in the effort to follow up on these kinda calls.

Well I am glad the dog got back , but this is Krystal, The old collars have my cell phone number and still get calls for dogs that show up wearing vests and collars with an Ugly Dog label on them. I have picked up dogs and tracked down owners in the past that I got calls from. Alot of times people are scared of stray dogs and don't bother to look under the cut collar to see if there is any other information that could be covered up by the dog. Alot of variables that chane he outcomes of what we think about the way things should go. The problem with putting tags on in a hurry/mandatory and still happens frequent is peoples numbers change and they move and don't change nameplates. Also alot of namesplates can fall off, so we cannot assume the dog did not start off with a nameplate.
TX BoarDog, please let us know that the dog was succesfully returned to rightful owner. I hate to think that nice folks willing to help give up trying if the dog was not the right dog, or it did not get picked up.
