I'll be there after deer season. Grin

Mike,
Noah lives about 10 minutes from my house.  I would assume that after you come hunt with me, you could most likely get up with Noah to get a few hunts in with him as well.  He has a pretty piece of property to hunt. Wink

Guy's,

Don't take my previous post serious, as I am just messing around.   It has been my experience that everyone gets out run occasionally, and everyone hunts their type of dogs because it suits them best. For whatever reason, personal preference, terrain, etc.   I like to think I have seen some good dogs, both cur and hound, and I have certainly seen and owned some crappy ones.

Truth of the matter, as a rule, the best dogs I have hunted with belong to people who don't know how or choose not to use a computer. They might have heard of the internet, but they have never been there  Smiley  Due to their lifestyle choice, they are able to spend much more time in the woods, then most people with a day job.

So the average curs that you see can take a cold track let's say 4 hours old though a submerged overgrown clear-cut say 1 mile square.  I'm not talking 1" water on the ground here and there.  I'm talking 12" deep for the majority of the block.  Please bring this cur dog out for a hunt.  I'd love to see him go.  If he can't handle it, we'll let the hounds out of the box to help him along.

Again, what does water have to do with it?  a cur can swim just as well or even better than a hound......now I see you are adding in a cold track, and obviously the average hound would have the advantage there...

Gregg,

I most likely did not explain the total situation very cleary.  The part of Florida that I hunt is not over run with hogs.  They are present, but they are not thick.  Knowing that they will be pursued if they cross a road, they tend to move at night, basically staying in the pines or swamps during the daylight.  Gererally speaking, you have to have some form of a trail dog to get on them.  A winding dog, would most likely leave you frustrated all day long.  They are too scattered.  Having a good rig dog (striking a scent where it crossed the road) makes things easier.  Of course, I did not say EASY.  Just as there are plenty of positive aspects that curs bring to the table, hounds also have their upside if used in a bennificial way.  Like I stated before, most around these parts, use some of each in their pack.  It is all about what works for you specifically in the terrain you have access too.  Catching hogs consistantly where ever you drop your pack speaks volumes.  That's the way I see it.

Regards,
Josh

I can agree..although a good bred cur will take a track as well..but I see your point...As you know I am adding some hounds to my pack because I am not over run with hogs either, and I have access to a good bit of land..

I don't have a great nose myself, but I know that I can't keep up with a hog.  Oh, you mean the dogs.  Sorry, I was a little confused.  LOL!!!!!!!

I got in a bad habit of getting my dogs to hunt the woods and not the roads. Grin
