Here not long ago, I picked up a a new gyp. I'm started some of my pups early on, so I wasn't looking for any outside blood this year. But anyhow, I felt sorry for her. She was skinny, needed all kinda fixins. My wife feel in love with her so there you go. We're  just now getting to the point were we can walk up to her without her bawling sceard and peeing all over herself. Been putting some weight on her. She's not a bad lookin dog. I'm clueless to what she's out of. I walk her on a lead and her nose never leaves the ground. I keeping telling my wife I'm going to get rid of her. She says she could be the best dog ever. Blah blah blah. Who's this ever happen to? Some random dirt cheap dog turning it on? She's got a ton of energy and loves her nose on the ground

give her a few more months of solid hands on attention, or as much as yaw can do to win her trust and your trust to turn loose with worrying bout her running off with a collar and or gear. put her to work and see what she will do. you don't know if you don't try.

Got a free dog that was said to be a cull in the yard right now. Reason for culling was at 16 months had never seen a pig. Put her in the pen and she jumped the fence. Well I put her with another dog and let her settle in a few weeks. Took her to a pen and she climbed out. Put the other dog in and she wanted in. Put both in the pen and it was on. Today she produces pork. Hunts good and has the bottom to stay with one. Will also put the brakes on one. She has turned into a fine dog in my opinion. Sometimes ur gut tells u what is true even tho u can't see it on day one. In the end it's your dog and your feed bill. Give the dog as long as u are willing to and see what happens. Worst case she cost you a few dollars in feed and whatever it cost to get her healthy. Probly still cheaper than some of the junk being sold for good money.

can you post a picture?

If you have the room it won't hurt to give her time to see if she will turn on...there are mutts out there that can do it all...we tend to go with purebreds because we more or less know what they are bred to do and we kind of know what they will look like when grown...it is a crap shoot with mutts but you already know what she will like when grown...

Gut feeling is there, I've actually yesterday went and talked to her for about 30 minutes. While having a beer. Now that I have kiddos running around, I tend to just go sit at my kennels and have a beer by the dogs. Kept me out of trouble that way. I first started by sitting in her range. She was skiddish when I'd put my hand to my mouth. After about the third beer she was fine with my hand going up to my mouth. So I eased into her and she a little more calm. Before I new it, I never stretched her out on her chain so she didn't have no room to go, I was dead in the middle. She come up let me pet on her, I'd pick hand up for a sip she'd run. I'll keep working with her. Won't fix in one day I know. But I think with time, that I have some of. She mite make somthing. Walking her on a lead, she's all over the place at first but when she calms she's fine. She can take the exact track we took to point B, right back to point A nose glued. And I mean were not walking in a strait line. Drive way curves and kinda long. I'll try to post pics. Weather is crappy. But you guys are right, I won't know unless I try. Thanks yall. Just curious if yall had a story like that and the dog turning out for you guys.
