What feeds do some of you give and how long do you feed out before butchering? Do you try to shoot them while they are laid up and less stressed? A lot of hogs taken straight from the field are delicious and others are ok to down right nasty. I assume stress from a chase and poor diet are the cause. Pigs taken in agriculture areas tend to taste much better than a rocky desert. What is your opinion?

I always fed chopped corn for several weeks, then eased up and shot them with a .22 when I was ready.

There is a sow and pig feed at TSC that is medicated... We fed that for couple months then switched to corn for a couple weeks before butchering ours. I would say less stress is definitely the way to go though either way.

Same here Ryan feed a bag of 16% medicated and whole corn then go to 15% swine and whole corn 50/50 ratio.

Any chicken houses around you, if you can get your hands on the feed they feed the chickens it will literally cut your growing and feeding time in half.
