Ok I lost 3 puppies a few days ago, they were the smaller ones. Then I lost another last night!! The other ones have gotten skinny, half bloody lookin stool but it doesnt smell bad like parvo does. Ive been worming them for two days and today is the third. The ones I have left I need to save!!  My dad is giving them milk mixed with dog food and he says they are only drinking the milk but not eating the dog food. Theyve been wormed and I dont know what else to do or know what else they might have. Please if anyone has any suggestions I will appreciate it greatly!!!

Thanks
Cristina

I had the same problem with my last litter! Long story short I tried every thing I could think of and nothing worked. A friend of mine said he thought it was worms, But I had wormed them multiple times he insisted it was worms so I went and got some zimectrin gold and gave it to them. The five I had left are doing fine now. I just put a bb size drop on my finger and rubbed in the back roof of there mouth. I hope this helps.

I went and got some zimectrin gold and gave it to them.

Where can I get this?? At a feed store or the vet?

Check w/ your vet about cocidia/cocidiosis (sp) and see about some albon.

My local vet is not being helpful right now  Evil
I read about this and the symptoms seem exact. My brother is checking with his vet who is much nicer and will prescribe us stuff without charging an arm and a leg. How can I keep them hydrated?....details please Ive never had to do this before.

Thanks all for your quick responses!!!

You can get albon and zimectin gold at a feed store. The albon did not work for me, But it will not hurt to give it to them and see if it works for you. The zimectin gold is a horse wormer!

zimectrin gold is ivomec and prazaquantel...prazaquantel is a tape wormer. To give enough of the zimectrin gold to take care of the tapes...you'd overdose them on the ivomec.

I didn't get the Zimectin Gold. They said it would damage their kidneys? Anyway I got Albon, Panacur and Probios-for their stomach. I'm going to try this and hope it works. Thanks again for the suggestions.

i had the same problem with the same symtoms the vet told me that a new strain of parvo come out about 6 months ago that does not have the smell in the stool like original parvo and told me to stop feeding dog food it tears there stomach up u need to feed the pups boiled rice with chicken broth also start injecting them with ringers lactate at 10 to 20 cc under the skin every 2 hours to keep them from dehydrating but and he gave me some kind of med but i cant remember the name of it good luck

Today thankfully the 5 puppies we have left are running around and playing. They are eating solid food now and there gums have a little more color. Yesterday they looked half dead and today they are livelier. Again thanks for all your help and concern guys. we have five left but those were the stronger and better looking ones of the litter, although I did not want to lose any and especially the one I wanted I know it happens.
