Well my oldest son and I made a little round this morning with my buddy Michael. He’s closer to a brother than a buddy if you get down to it.  He called the other day and said hogs were turning his place upside down. We cast Ava, Outlaw, Ava’s littermate Sam, Shaymus (a cousin on top and bottom), and my Ray pup (10 months). Ava and Outlaw went one way, Sam and Ray went another, and Shaymus another. Sam and Ray got bayed at 850ish. The others got there and were sounding good but Mr Boar didn’t like their singing and decided he was leaving. It was a small set of woods and he had to cross a pretty open area to get to a bigger set of woods.  They came boiling out of the brush and let me tell ya ole Outlaw walked him down and turned him and for a brief moment he was bayed in the open. I sent Reba to them and Mr Boar broke hard again. 20 yards inside the wood line he was wanting someone to shoot in there amongst’em. He was 180 maybe a little more. Ava and Outlaw relayed and bayed again in a set of woods 500+yards southwest of where the first hog was originally at. We get there and by then all the dogs were there. We sent the two catch dogs and the hog (180ish) broke when he saw them coming.  75 yards later he was calling for help.  While we were catching him, Ava was bayed solo about 50 yards away. The others went to her and that hog lit out. At .70 they had him bayed solid. We got there and caught a third boar but he was only about 150. We caught the dogs up and called it a hunt. Not a bad trip and Ray did pretty good. He was at all 3 hogs and always gone so we’ll see how he does. I was worried about how he was going to turn out. Just him and one other male lives out of the litter. They got parvo  and I haven’t had that in years. He’s super smart, show him something 2 or 3 times and he’s usually got it.

Good deal T, glad to see you got Michael in the woods. I am not surprised to see Ray starting up after the way he looked baying. Hope he keeps rolling.

Fine hunt man..   Young dog wasnt playing around if he was sticking to the old dogs like that,, better than him sticking in your feet..  Wont take to many times like that and he will know his job..

Those are some nice boars and good dog work. Your places look a lot drier then Cracker's and mine do.

Cajun we aren’t as wet as y’all for sure! It’s been nasty as all get out here for about the last 2-3 weeks. That ice storm really did a number and when it melted just made mush. Then it’s started raining and made things even worse. You just about had to walk anywhere you went off of pavement or you were going to leave major ruts or be stuck. Some of these sand hills we have in places are back to ok.

Sounds like good hunt and puppy sounds like going to come on like he is supposed to which is what you would expect from a good family of dogs
