Larry Smith, his Grandson Ty and I made a round. We were headed to Larry’s feeder and the dogs rigged. Bunch of sows n shoats had walked the road but they had a good one with them. We walked the track out and found where he left the road and put dogs out. They trailed out and jumped. Dogs ran this boar 12 miles and we picked up some deer dogs in the race but had to catch off when he crossed out of the club. We went to another feeder where the hogs had been there at 4:00 and turned out at 9:30. Caught a big sow and a shoat. Ty got to leg the shoat and he is hooked. Wants to be a dog man now. We dodged deer hunters and deer dogs all morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Man Cajun that sounds like real good dog work. Don’t you feel like a million bucks when those youngsters take to it like that?! I’m sure it was frustrating dodging the deer dogs. I doubt that’s very easy. I can where that could draw a young dog in and get them to trashing on deer pretty easy. Hopefully they are as cooperative with you as you are with them.

You guys made the best of it due to the boundaries and were still successful, but the cream of that hunt was that boy experienced and enjoyed it.

Sounds like a good hunt and cant but love getting that boy in there. Sounds like good dog work.
We deal with deer hounds here. I get mine where they wont go to deer races......but they wont go to strange dogs when you want them too either! lol

T dog most of the time it is their dogs joining our race but if I see one of mine joining a deer race, that is when I put the hammer down. lol There are more ways to loose a hog in that area then anyplace I have hunted. Mostly when the hog crosses out of the club. You would think 12000 acres would be big enough for a hog to stay in but they run out a pretty good bit. On the west side are some beef farms and we have had hogs run right thru the cows. Let me tell you those Moma cows are ready and waiting when those dogs come thru and they scatter them pretty good.

I’d bet any hog that you’ve ran off the reservation more than once knows exactly where the border is. They are pretty smart critters.
