We made a round today and caught a 150# boar with what we thought was pretty good teeth. The dogs had to get out and work to find him and bay him. We tied him and got him in the trailer and headed to another set of woods on the same place and kicked the dogs out again. They got gone and were keeping busy so we just set and waited. Pretty soon they come bayed on some land we haven't been able to access but ol Deputy Dawg made a call and got permission so we headed to them. T was out front and gave us the high sign to send the bulldogs. They both eared up and when we got there woowee, he was a toad, he had a heck of a set of shanks. Both long and heavy, A good Barry that we tied and brought out to the buggy to discuss what to do. It turned out ol Deputy Dawg wanted him for a wall hanger so we stuck him and used the winch on the buggy to lift him up and weigh him. He went 257#. I am sure T will put up a couple pics. It was a good day, I have been in on taking a good number of bigger hogs but I haven't been in on any with ivory like this.

We had a good hunt. We definitely haven’t put up any big numbers like we have in years past but I sure enjoyed the dogs having to work some and it was good for our pups to have to stay bayed for a while when we were trying to run folks down to get to them. They originally bayed this Barr about 900 yards out but by the time we got around to them they had moved another 800 onto the place we’ve had trouble getting into in the past. It all worked out good today. It was a good time with our buddies Jay and Trey.

They dont get much better then that. That is a fine Barr. You know I wouldn't get onto Deputy dawg too much. I can see the resemblance between you and WOW. Y'all pretty much look like twins. lol

Ya see Cajun I thought we were better than that! Your pumping WOW’s ego up. Now he’s strutting around here feeling like a peacock. Lol my youngest boy said the same thing the other day and I grounded him until he graduates in two years.

We made another run today. We didn’t have anything real special happen until we were headed in to catch the 4th and final hog for the morning. We cast dogs and they went about 600 yds and bayed a sounder. We caught 3, a sow and two bigger shoats out of that and then loaded dogs because we didn’t want to get on the place where they were headed. Next cast we got a sow bayed and we sent both catch dogs because we couldn’t see what was bayed. I’m hurrying because they were caught and out of nowhere a bear attacks me.
It was a heck of a deal. It happened so fast I couldn’t tell you what kind of bear it was. Between the surprise and trying to get me a switch I just didn’t notice but it looked like  grizzly when he was running away. If y’all see him you’ll recognize him cause he’s got some bald spots on him now.

That's some good hunts, and I get those same attacks all the time penning cattle and riding my mule hunting.

Hollowpoint, you might want to look for a briar spray.

Hollowpoint you may need bear spray for the bears in your area but you nt the old man have to worry about the bear I tangled with. He left headed north but as fast  as he was fleeing central Texas, he couldn’t come to stop before he’s already north of Oklahoma.
