Had my lead dog Ace get has middle part shaft hang out the skin where it didn’t want to go back in so I thought to myself it will go back in long story short it got to a bad spot where he had to go to the vet and get it put back in and stitched so it wouldn’t come back out vet had told me they didn’t know if they could save it but after a week of meds and cleaning it was saved but bad part they had to cut his manhood so he was fixed but his junk was saved. But he seems like his self wanting to chase the house cats so he’s feeling himself again and I’m itchy to get him back in the woods

Man that sucks. I’ve never had that happen. A buddy of mine had a male dog get his business cut by a boar hog. I don’t know if it didn’t heal correctly or if it was scar tissue, but had a lot of trouble with the dog getting UTI’s after that. He just couldn’t urinate properly. When he was healthy he was a god dog but when he had a UTI he didn’t want to do much, which is understandable, but it was at least a 50/50 deal on him having or not having one. Just remember your old dog may go through some changes hormonally that affect his hunting some. Don’t lose your patience with him.

Seen it a good bit. Had a friend that lost one a couple years back the same way. A hefty dose fo Garlic (drops blood pressure) and keep it lubed and it will usually go back in. If you catch it early. When it stays out, it dries out and then wont go back in without surgery. Glad yours made it and could be saved.
That said, some of the best male dogs ive seen hunt, had been fixed. I usually fix all my catchdogs. The one I have now is nuetered. Takes a lot of the B.S. out of the knuckleheads and puts it all on catching game! lol

I don’t want to be your dog Cajunl! I can just see it now, I got hunting and catching on my mind and you’re looking at me with a blade in your hand. Let me go and I’ll go find’em for you too, just don’t cut on me. Pleeeaaasse! Lol I’m just kidding kinda.
What causes this issue? I’ve heard of people taking the blue pill and having to have surgery to fix it but I don’t think they had to be neutered.

Seen a dog get it hung out and them not be able to save it. Cut his unit off and rerouted his urethra. Pissed about like a gyp after that.

Man that’s even worse that it’s a young dog thing. At least with an older dog you stand a chance having gotten pups out of him.
