We have 3 Plott pups loose around here that were 4 mths old a week or so ago and in the last week or two I have been hearing them bark down in the woods, I figured they were trying to run a rabbit. Yesterday I  heard them across the road in the brushy fencerow, they sounded treed, I got to looking and the little idiots were treeing on birds, they'd be looking up at one and barking then when the bird flew further down the fencerow they'd follow until it stopped or they saw another and tree some more. That went on forever. Never had any do that around here.
Monday my wife brought home our girls long haired chocolate colored Aussie dog because she was going to be out of town for a few days, those pups had their hair stood up and were raising cain, they kept getting closer to him and he wouldn't go with Lisa for being leary of the pups, after she got him in the pen they bayed him  for 2 hrs with me running them off periodically with the BB gun. Don't know how that will translate to baying hogs or treeing bear but it has been comical.

I think it’s a good sign, in my opinion I’d be pretty confident they’ll graduate to larger game naturally. Wait till they get a nose full of stinking’ boar hog and bear, they’ll leave the country like their hair is on fire.

Those pups sound like fun little headaches lol. All they have to do to make is trail and hunt well. They’re obviously gamey and want to tree and bay. Getting them to stop might be the biggest problem. Your daughters dog might bite her for leaving him with those heathens.

Sounds like normal pups to me. Get into anything they can and get after everything.

They're doing more and more, usually have to put them up in their 5th month.

I like the ones that will go looking for trouble. Long as they got a little sense I feel I can typically translate they to looking for hogs/desired game.

Such as the conversation I had with Rednose the other evening talking about the young dogs we have coming up. You can knock a little out of them if you got to, but you can’t put an ounce of it in them if you tried.
