Never seen one I’d call that. Now I’m upset I didn’t get a picture.

His hair was long, thick, and wavy with a short kinky undercoat. It’s kinda hard to tell unless you zoom in closer or saw him in person. Something with bigger teeth, more size and this color would be an awesome full body mount. All the other hogs we caught that day were some form of red to red spotted except for this boar and a black sow and shoat.

That is a neat hog tdog. Seen some more silver/gray than that and plenty reds but never one like that.

My question is does color come from more diverse breeding or more inbreeding? We catch mainly straight black hogs, and what I call a red collared hog. Very seldom spot or true red around home. Caught a blue eyed barr years ago around Milano/gause. Heck I think that was the weekend we met in person t dog, cowboy church weigh in.

That was a while back. I don’t believe I’ve seen a blue eyes hog either. Probably 30 years ago we caught a blondish/white boar and the only other color were the small black patches over his eyes. He had small, piercing, amber colored eyes. Man that dude looked wicked and he did put up a fight.

NLA and I were talking about color a week or two ago. I’ve noticed here that in some places we will catch just spotted hogs or just black hogs with some of them being that European color or look. Some places we have a big mixture and it seems like the color of the hogs tend to lean towards more of one color or other depending on the color of the dominant boar.

Looks like he had a big black mane, I would’ve liked to see him bristled up.
