well today is a bitter sweet day for me....today is the 1yr anniversary that my dad passed. my dad was a great man that accomplished a LOT in his life time. primarily he accomplished raising 5 kids who all graduated from college and are all holding down good jobs and three have started their own families. we all are positive people in our respective communities. i know many of you can say the same for your parents as well. my dad has ALWAYS been my idol, never an athlete(and i was a top tier athlete), never a pop icon, never anyone on tv..ALWAYS my dad...miss you pop.

now to sweet part. i took the day off cuz i would really hurt some one today if they crossed me so i felt it was better to just stay at home. got stir crazy so i took my dogs out again. the hunt started much like most of our hunts do. i drop them and they are nose down hunting hard. about 15min in i got a bay, and like most times it breaks and my youngins can't stop it. so we walk some more and we get another bay, it breaks again.. Undecided. well i get a call and i really have to go..yup you guessed it i got a solid bay BOTH my dogs are there. if you haven't read my other posts when my dogs are split hogs break and my dogs haven't developed enough yet to stop them, but when they are together we are 100% on getting solid bays. well both of them are there. i hear a squeal i think, so i start walking to them(they are deep in). they get quiet so i whistle they start up again, i walk some more. well this goes on for about 20min til i get there. finally i get to my dogs and they have a small boar stopped. the closer i get i see that my dogoX, kopa, has caught him. now the small boar is sitting down just barely breathing. i think they have killed him but i approach with caution cuz i've seen what even a small boar can do to a person. he is still alive and as i get closer i send kopa back in she catches on the ear. i ggrab the boar and stick it. i was mighty proud as this is the first hog that just my two dogs have bayed/caught on their own. it isn't a 300lber hell it isn't even a 150lber but i'm still proud as proud could be. these two just keep getting better and striking faster each time they go out...good job girls...sunny on the left kopa on the right.

Glad you had a good hunt today.  Sometimes, it's things like this that make us reflect.  Have a good night.

Nice job man, your Dad is smilling as hard as you are right now and is proud of your great accomplishment. Glad Sunny is turning into a good dog and look foward to stories to come as they will get better from here. Sounds like you are going to need a cd soon Grin

Good deal..I love to watch them young dogs start figuring it out.
I have a male catahoula that is colored exactly like that dog on the left. I mean looks identical. I'll try to get a pic of him..

Definitely bitter sweet. Your Dad was a man that any son would be proud of. I'm looking forward to seeing sunny and kopa hunt when you make it down here.
