 Smiley  It was shot because it was on a refuge and they watch everyone closely to make sure that no live, tied hogs are removed.  Big fines.  It was also shot because it was in thick briars and vines and who wants to get all scratched up to stick one when the game warden is breathing down your neck and they want them shot dead anyway.  I thought I made that clear in the first sentence.  It actually was a nice Russian hybrid and would have been great to tie and take home to the bay pen.  Also, we did have two catch dogs, but they ran the opposite way on another hog which we never found!!! Undecided

Actually, jags make terrible catch dogs.  I am not proposing they be a substitute for a good pitt or dogo or Am Bull.   Too small.  If that boar was not tangled in green briars he would have took off wearing all those jagterriers like ear rings!  Usually we require a real catch dog to anchor one down of this size.  We got lucky that day.
