Me personally, i like to take an XXS or XS headin rope and unravel one string off of it then braid an eye in it. Make it about 10 ft. long. works good and dont cut off circulation, and also easy to untie you dont have to cut it off.

Another thing i like is to unravel all three strings then 3 plat them together and braid an eye back in it. that works well too.

SO what do yall pefer to tie with?

I've just been usin' cheap 3/8" poly yacht braid you get from the hardware store, keep about 50' in my pack just in case... comes in real handy some times.  I've given up trying to keep track of my tying string(and leads for that matter...)  use one, lose it.... make another! Grin

Mule tape...I have used about everything else and keep coming back to it. I just NEVER cut it off a hog, I untie it...always. I had an old man tell me to untie hogs, not to cut the ties. I cut ties off the hog, next hunt I got a dog wrecked....so now I UNTIE the hogs with a Leatherman tool.....every time. Never hurts to be safe...... Shocked

I have some mule tape I have tied several hogs with and still use them. It lasts forever if you don't cut it.

sfboarbuster, you might want to check your buddies trucks....

Seems thats where most of my muletape winds up!!

I have tied hogs with dog leashes, boot laces, even took the dog collars off the dogs once and made makeshift hobbles.....but I prefer muletape. If I tie one with it, he will be there 10 minutes from now, or 10 hours from now. He may not be able to walk when untied, but he will still be tied when I get back to him.

Your probably right mark, I usually have a spool of it in the back of the truck, but 1000 feet lasts about 2 months.
And I dont catch too many hogs so it doesnt add up

Rope, bu tI have the same problem sfboarbuster has.  I tie one hog and three peices of rope dissapear.  The strange thing is none of my buddies have any rope either.  Must be evil rope knomes. Evil  Had to tie and retie a little boar the other day with a semi rotten peice of hay string as none of us had any rope. Grin

I use the same thing Clint!! I take a 9.5 poly and unravel one strand feet don't swell!! But I try to keep those and re use them!! But I keep several of the 3/8  poly like Noah so I get my others back!! Some of mt tie rope is 5 or 6 years old!!! I retiered a dog leash that I had since 1997 I figured if I kept up with it for that long it could go in the haul of fame!!! Cheesy
