My contact at Marshall should be calling me in a few minutes to give a few details about their new system. I will post up after speaking with them.

This is an email i just got from Marshall.
My name is Dennis Messer and I'm the National Hound Rep. for Marshall. First let me say thanks for your interest in Marshall and for your using our products in the past. We are currently working on a system that will be both GPS and Traditional Telemetry and also be available with lights. I can not give you a definate date as to when it will be available because we have to have our Pro Team check it out and make sure that it meets our standards before we release it to the public, but it should be this year. I personally feal this will be the most advanced Tracking System that has ever been made to track a hound, because it will combine the very best of both types of tracking. You can keep checking our website for updates as to when it will be available or feal free to contact me by email or phone at 828-400-7554

The system is still in "beta" and being tested daily, and subject to change prior to public release later this year.
A few things have to fall in place before the release, one of which is a new battery that is being developed. Battery life is expected to be in the 7+ day range, with continuous use. It might be longer depending on the battery being developed.
Garmin has ~50 different frequencies in use for all collars, Marshall will have 5000
It will be a handheld GPS used in conjunction with a traditional radio system. The collars will be the same size as the Marshall radio collars, but they will be a dual collar. If you lose GPS function, you can still track to them with the Marshall system.
Expect a release sometime late 2010.
You will be able to see your dogs and their relative distance on the GPS handheld similar to the Garmin.

No mention of price at this point. It looks like you will need the handheld GPS, the traditional Marshall radio receiver, and the new combo collars.

I CANT WAIT TO SEE THIS SYSTEM, IT WILL BE WELL WORTH THE MONEY IM SURE. GARMIN IS GOOD BUT THE COLLARS JUST DONT SEEM TO HOLD UP TO THE EVERYDAY USE OF A HOG DOG. WE AINT BIRD HUNTIN WITH THIS THING IT GETS BANGED UP REAL BAD. I BELIEVE MARSHALL WILL DO IT RIGHT AND HAVE COLLARS THAT WILL LAST FOR YEARS. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE COLLARS WILL BE THE COATED NYLON OR THE SAME AS THE GARMIN? I HOPE THEY WILL BE COATED.
