With the cold weather upon us, what kind of preparations do ya'll make for your pack of dogs.
I put a little fresh hay in their barrel/house, put a heat lamp shining on the front of the barrel and give them warmed up food. I also try to block the wind during the winter by wrapping a tarp around the kennels on the North side.
What else works well, other than bringing them in the house?

take some screen wire and wrap the heat lamp, so if the bulb happens to break it dont catch your hay on fire. i have a lamp on a gyp that is going to have pups and it wrapped. ive seen it happen before and burn a barn down..

That is a good idea on the screen wire, I have those pups in my trailer in the barn with a bunch of hay and a lamp on em. They sure seem to like it, sleep right under the thing. I may see if I can find some screen to put over that lamp.
