My buddy talked to one of the representatives for the company. He really wanted one until he talked to them and after the conversation it was pretty clear they had a ways to go to catch up with garmin.

The receiving unit itself is about five hundred twenty five dollars. The collars are two hundred fifty dollars each. (Hound Tracer)
Garmin Hand Unit is about four hundred four fifty and the collars are one seventy five. But the tracer has radio frequency trackng built in.

The GPS part of the hound tracer does not have a screen like the garmin. If you want to see where your dogs are you will have to take your lap top along on the hunt. From what I understand the price is only temporary untin they sell a certain amount to get them out on the market. After they have so many out the price will go up.

Ur right.... the start up kit with the extra accesories is seven hundred fifty and there is only three hundred kits available at that price. I dont know if they are durable like the garmin. I just couldnt imagine hauling a laptop where i hunt and how dang filthy or wet i become.

I dont want to upset you guys. But I have never lost a dog and always made it to the bay and never had a tracking system in the old days.I guess the dogs are better now.

My buddy was real serious about getting one. There were some other issues with it to that I have forgot about. They must not be selling very many because that has been 4 or 5 months ago that he talked to them.

Thats awesome Rockin P.... I respect the values of just man and his dogs. I enjoy being able to use the data and track certain aspects of the hunt and certain dogs actions... its not for everone. Plus I plot alot of on the waypoints.

I hunted along time without a tracking system and I might could make it now without one but why would you want to. It makes the hunt so much easier and in return it make it alot more fun. I slept many restless night and drove many useless miles looking for dogs when I didnt have one. Now I just go right to them.

I WOULDNT SAY DOGS ARE BETTER. I WOULD SAY STLYES HAVE CHANGED....WELL MAYBE DOGS ARE BETTER BUT STILL TIMES HAVE CHANGED. I USE MY GPS MAINLY FOR MAKING SURE THEY STAY ON THE RIGHT PROPERTY.

Same here, but also to prevent dog theft.  Three times tracking systems have saved my dogs from thieves.  Microchips, cell phone numbers on collars, freezebrands and tatoos of driver licenses inside thighs, and all that meant nothing to thieves, but the tracking systems got my dogs back, and two times they had already removed the tracking collars but could not figure how to shut them off.
