Made a hunt out at "Big-Bad-Killer-Hog-Land" today.... pretty bad when you get butterflies in your stomach just by driving through a gate... Shocked Grin
This place has been pretty rough on my program over the last yr... I guess we were due for some good luck Grin

Was an absolutely beautiful day, light east wind, started in the 40's and topped out around 70.  All I had to hunt was ol' Shine and she done good... From the time she hit the ground at 7:30am, till the time I made her get in the box at noon... she was a machine!  Really got to test her stamina out today, she had no choice Wink

First boar and a gorgeous Florida sky!   She trailed him for about 15 min into a pine thicket before she jumped and quickly shut him down... bayed up as nice as you could ask.... that is... until Jetta broke off her tie down and made it to Shine waaay before we did Shocked... thank the Lord neither dog had any damage when we finally got to them.... Ol' Shine was laid up along side of that ol' boar as perty as you could ask for!  (I've been hoping she'd figure that out soon Grin)

Lee givin' the "fierce pose" with lil' Jetta.... she may be little but she's a quick little bear trap Grin

After the first boar, Shine jumped a big boar... ran him for a big 1mile loop... saw him cross the road... big black blur... Grin  She hung with him for a little over an hour before falling out and cheking back in(thank God Grin)  Gave her a 3min break and sent her on!!! Grin

She strolled down the edge of some bad wet stuff and found a couple hogs in the process of rootin'... went ahead and caught the sow and had her handled nicely when we arrived... 'bout got rallied on by some rank swamp cattle if not for me runnin' up on them Shocked

Shine, me, and A.J.... seconds away from getting her head stomped in for not quitting when I told her to Grin

More pictures to follow...

Shine winded into a big saw grass bay head and struck in about 800yds before catchin' this lil' guilt, which the boys handled nicely... they did it all, from stickin' the dog wrecker Grin... to pullin' dogs off and draggin the beast out! Grin  Figgured this would be a good time to call it a day...

Ol' Shine really made me proud today, just her and a couple slow bulldogs... coulda kept catching hogs all day long if I'd let her, but I'm glad I made her quit when she did... poor girl has both eyes swole shut and can hardly pick her head up to look at me as I type this... if I had a lick of sense I'd stop hunting her till I get a litter out of her... but I don't.... so I won't.... Wink Grin

Everyone that's ever got to hunt with this dog notices how quiet she is in the woods... her pure athleticism really allows her to avoid un-necessary noise... giving her a "stealth like" advantage... she can run wide open through a bad-thick palmetto head and sometimes you'll never know she is there...

Here she is in mid-air coming out of a thicket... over the twig... rather than through it Grin

I call this the Ninja effect.  I kind of expect this out of curs (although not all of them are created equal) and look for it in catchdogs.  Catchdogs that sound like heard of elephants making a charge isn't helping us catch hogs.

Great hunt by the way!!!
