That is a dog killer waiting to happen! We've got guys here in Hawaii that have started cutting the boars and then also removing their tails and ears making it a butterball with nothing for a dog to grab on to! Definately a trophy in a few years but also havok on catchdogs!

I've never personally cut a hogs ears off but I do mark their ear when I cut them and let them loose. I've caught a couple without any ears or tails too.. Not usually fun. The last one I caught with my dogo/pit had no ears or tail and was around 275 easily. If not for that dog I would have had some dead dogs or never caught the hog. He cut my bmc pretty badly and he quit trying to catch.. Gotta love a big catch dog every once in a while!

Thats part of the hunt. You never know what your gonna get on so you gotta be willing to sacrifice a dog everytime the tailgate drops.

WHAT THE ****?!?!?!? So you guys think it's OK to burn your pasture on a windy day when you're neighbors house is down wind too? Good grief. That's like the guys in Florida that ram pipe into the lake shallows to flip air-boaters. It's bad enough that it destroys the boat, but it can kill the driver and passengers. The guys that do it say the same thing... "Airboating is dangerous, they should know that when they get on the water..." It'd be like mounting a long metal spike on the center of your steering wheel pointing right at the driver, and then trying to rationalize it by saying "Well, every time you drive your car out of the driveway you have to know that you may not come back home..." The statement itself is essentially true enough... but as a rationale for stupid/reckless actions, it just doesn't work. 1+2 does not equal purple. Inherent risk does not somehow magically justify sabotage. I try to be even-keeled most of the time, but I'm seeing red on this one. If you cut ears off, you are intentionally setting a dog wrecking machine loose in the woods. IF YOU WERE THE ONLY PERSON IN THE COUNTY THAT WOULD BE FINE. But we all know that pigs don't stay in one place, so that means that other people's dogs are going to get on the pigs you made earless. What you do with your own dogs is your business, but you're knowingly and intentionally killing other people's dogs when you do this, and that's just not right. Yes, hog hunting is inherently dangerous. But why would you do something to intentionally make it more dangerous for other folks dogs than it already is? Shouldn't we doggers be helping each other... not intentionally killing other hunters dogs? I just don't get it.

For those that are about to have a heart attack over this Timmy is just jacking with you so you don't go to NE Texas and catch his hogs....

Some comments should be kept off the board. Cant imagine why someone would cut the ears from a hog or why you would be willing to "sacrifice" a dog. There are lots of things that can happen while hunting...especially dangerous game...but why increase the chances? Hunting ethics should still apply to hog hunters.
