Question for some of you fellas who have used American Bulldogs for years.  Who are some of the better breeders out there who produce AB's that make true working catchdogs ?  Now I'm not talking about the 120 lb. Johnson type, big headed, wrinkle-faced bulldogs.  I'm talking about the athletic, leggier built AB's with longer muzzle, in the 70-85 lb. range.  AB's that can run more than 100 yards without falling over with a heart attack.  Just curious as I figured there is probably somebody out there who hog hunts with AB's and has been breeding them long enough to make them more suited to the woods and catch work.  Reason I ask this question is I've only owned one AB in my life.  I bought him as a pup in 1989, and he looked different than the AB's I see now.  This dog was about 70 lbs., real athletic, could run FAST for a good distance, had good lathletic structure.  I wouldn't mind feeding another one like that, but not sure who breeds them.

Don Matthews at Konfederate Kennels. He's a good friend of mine and produces some awesome dogs! Another friend of mine has a litter due next week off of one of Don's dogs bred to a Scott line dog. Should make some nice pups!
