I have heard the term "over hunted" in regards to properties many times before...I`m curios, how long you figure it takes before the hogs think the coast is clear and come back or another sounder set up residence ?
When you have a place ,do you hunt the heck out of it, or rotate it out with your other places? And just how "dog savvy" do you think hogs get?
I know opinions & experiences will vary, at least I hope they do or else I`m not going to learn anything new...but I have noticed the answer tends to be different based on different parts of the state/country

I'm pretty new to the sport but... we hunted my place that had never been dogged and caught 8 or 9, can't remember but, the next few times we went we got out ran a few times and only ended up catching one. the hogs were there according to the game cams but we couldnt seem to run'em down. We haven't hunted that place since march, let you know if the hogs are n e dummer when it cools down. don't know if that helps your question out but thats my experience. Seems that way to with a place I have hunted with mattaggie. But if I had a few places I sure wouldn't dog'em out unless the landowner wanted it that way.

It depends on what the landowners want. If it's not a big deal to get the hogs gone, we'll hunt a property two or three times a month.
A couple of years back we got a contract on one and caught over 50 hogs in a month and a half... hunting two to four times a week. After that the hogs were gone for six months. :'(
We've gotten so busy now we have to rotate around... it's good for us because you're usually going to get on one.

About the hog savey I went to a place this morning and my two young cur dogs started trashing oncows. So I thought! I got up there and there was about 6 hogs in this big group of cows. one cur ran up in there and got em out. There are plenty of dog savey hogs. I just thought I'd share that with yall that was the first time Ihad seen that.

I've only seen that a handful of times, but it's usually "bachelor type" boar hogs. Maybe they're just trying to find a new pack?

We have actually run into that a few times on one of our places. A sounder of hogs up in the middle of a herd of cows at night . Our older dogs know to go in and push the pigs out and leave the cattle alone...our younger dogs haven't had to deal with it yet .
